In 2013, I joined the Hildebrandt Artist Collective in the Historic Hildebrandt Building in Cleveland, Ohio. I was drawn to the building by its unique location, expansive north-facing windows and high ceilings. Being surrounded by a diverse group of artists was profoundly inspiring but it also came with many distractions. Determined to refine my craft, I founded Walton Avenue Atelier in 2017. My goal was to establish a node for artists who are dedicated to representational and classical drawing and painting methods, a community to support one another through the challenges of a demanding practice.
Walton Avenue Atelier has since become a vibrant community where artists engage in continuous practice. This ancient concept—becoming what we repeatedly do—reminds us that our growth and identity are shaped over time through persistent effort.
