Charlotte Dome

I recently have come off a great climb with Kevin Fox in King’s Canyon National Park. It is called Charlottes Dome, a classic 12 pitch climb 7 miles in from the Road’s End Trail Head. I have tried it before, coming in from Kearsarge Pass, without success. This trip went differently. With great weather, Kevin and I stitched together this truly great climb.

We started our trip by climbing a few easy routes on Little Baldy. This was the first time we had climbed together and saw this as an opportunity to smooth out our systems before committing to a larger project.

Car camping at its finest. We found a great but buggy campsite in Large Meadows to sort through gear, heat up Indian food and get a nights rest.

Hard to make out but here is one of six rattle snakes that we crossed paths with along our hike in and out. We rechristened Bubbs Creek Trail, Rattle Snake City.

We got in to another great campsite this time a base camp to Charlotte’s Dome. Here is Kevin, chef extraordinaire, at the stove.

We took a day to explore and rest our legs after hiking in. The following day would be a pretty big push.
